Untreated European Oak was used in this pair of automated gates for a vicarage. The material was chosen to be sympathetic to the design and period of nearby church. The steel bars are galvanised then powder coated. We only select the 'quarter sawn' or 'vertical grain' pieces from the log for the framework of the gate. This shows in the silver fleck so prized by furniture makers. The oak is kiln dried or air dried down to its end use optimum, around 18%.
